The AALS Sports Law Section

Mary Margaret "Meg" Penrose has taught law as a professor at the Texas A&M University School of Law since 2009. In addition to her educational responsibilities, Mary Margaret Penrose is a member of several legal groups and associations; she belongs to the American Law Institute, American Bar Foundation, American Bar Association, and the American Association of Law Schools Sports Law Section.

The American Association of Law Schools (AALS) section on law and sports was initially chartered in 1973. Over the course of the last four decades, members of the AALS sports law section have established an effective network of communication through which the promotion and education of sports law can be continuously enhanced.

The section is currently chaired by Maureen A. Weston, a Pepperdine University School of Law professor functioning as director of the entertainment, media, and sports dispute resolution project. Ms. Weston is supported in her activities as section chair by chair elect Ettie Ward of St. John’s University School of Law. Ms. Ward has experience as a major New York City litigator, member of the Federal Bar Council, and author of various papers on federal civil procedure.
